About the festival

Ine is Issele-Uku's traditional new year and new yam festival. The Ine Aho season opens in August and runs for several weeks, with the Iwaji Umuaka festival for children along the way.

Its high point is Ine Onyimi, the festival of joy, in September: two days of cultural displays and competitions between the kingdom's villages before the Obi. The season closes with the Ihu Onicha ritual.
