Every August, Warri Kingdom marks the coronation of Ogiame Atuwatse III with a royal boat regatta, homage from Itsekiri communities and days of celebration.

About the festival

Ogiame Atuwatse III was crowned the 21st Olu of Warri at Ode-Itsekiri on 21 August 2021. Each August since, Warri Kingdom has marked the anniversary with a programme of events in Warri and at Ode-Itsekiri, the ancestral home of the Itsekiri.

Recent programmes have included a royal boat regatta, days of homage from Itsekiri communities, cultural displays, sport and a thanksgiving service. The kingdom announces each year's dates and programme a few weeks ahead.
